Larnaca Salt Lake & Flamingo Trail

Protected wetland network hosting thousands of pink flamingos in winter, with a 4 km pine-fringed nature trail.

A Ramsar-designated wetland system comprising four interconnected salt lakes. Every winter between November and March, migrating flocks of greater flamingos feast on brine shrimp in the shallow waters.

A flat, shaded 4 km nature path curves along the shoreline under eucalyptus and pine trees with birdwatching hides.

Tips before you go

  • Pack binoculars or a telephoto lens since flamingos usually wade in the deeper center.
  • Sunsets mirror the silhouettes of birds and the Hala Sultan minaret on the glassy water.
  • The flat gravel trail is suitable for walking, running, and prams.

How to get there

Along Artemidos Avenue on the way to Larnaca Airport. Free parking near Kamares Aqueduct.
