Kamares Aqueduct (Bekir Pasha)

Magnificent 18th-century stone viaduct of 75 arches built to carry mountain spring water into Larnaca.

Constructed between 1746 and 1750 by the Ottoman governor Ebubekir Pasha, the Kamares Aqueduct is one of Cyprus's most striking engineering achievements. It operated continuously until 1939.

A dramatic sequence of 75 arches remains fully preserved, framed by walking paths, illuminated arches at night, and adjoining trails leading to the Salt Lake.

Tips before you go

  • Visit around dusk to see the arches softly illuminated against the night sky.
  • The paved promenade connects directly to the Larnaca Salt Lake nature trail.
  • Free parking lot located right beside the main viewing park.

How to get there

Located on the western outskirts of Larnaca along the old Limassol road (B5).
