Pomos Fishing Harbour & Dragon Cave

Dramatic northwestern outpost boasting a colorful fishing cove, cliffside taverna, and the mythical Dragon's Cave.

Pomos is a breathtaking coastal village where the pine-covered foothills plunge steeply into deep blue waters. Its miniature fishing harbor shelters colorful skiffs beneath steep headlands.

Just along the rocky shoreline lies the mystical Dragon's Cave (Spilia tou Drakou), an impressive natural sea grotto carved into volcanic rock opening directly out onto breaking surf.

Tips before you go

  • Enjoy fresh fish at Kanalli Cliffside Restaurant overlooking the vibrant harbor basin.
  • Walk down the steps to inspect the Dragon's Cave where cool sea spray echoes against the rocks.
  • Pomos is famous as the discovery site of the prehistoric Pomos idol depicted on the Cyprus €2 coin.

How to get there

20 km northeast of Polis along scenic coastal highway E704.
