Kalavasos-Tenta Neolithic Settlement

Remarkable 7000 BC aceramic Neolithic village sheltered beneath an iconic white conical architectural tent.

Easily spotted from the A1 highway by its striking white twelve-sided conical canopy, Kalavasos-Tenta is one of the most important Neolithic settlements in Cyprus, dating back to around 7000 BC.

Elevated walkways lead visitors over circular stone and mudbrick dwellings, defensive walls, and the earliest known wall painting found on the island.

Tips before you go

  • Convenient 30-minute stop right off the A1 highway between Limassol and Larnaca.
  • Drive 2 km north into Kalavasos village for coffee on its peaceful square.
  • Combine with nearby Choirokoitia UNESCO Neolithic site 8 km east.

How to get there

Just off the Kalavasos exit of the A1 Limassol–Larnaca motorway.
