Agios Georgios Alamanou Monastery

Tranquil 12th-century nunnery featuring blooming courtyard gardens, artisanal honey, and chalk sea cliffs nearby.

Founded in the 12th century by German hermit monks, this serene convent sits in a sunlit coastal hollow. Its inner courtyard is fragrant with orange blossoms, climbing jasmines, and tall cypresses.

The resident sisters tend active beehives, producing pure wild thyme honey, natural herbal soaps, and medicinal teas available in the convent shop. Downhill, coastal dirt tracks lead directly to secluded white chalk bluffs.

Tips before you go

  • Modest dress required (cover shoulders and knees; loaner skirts provided at the gate).
  • Purchase pure monastery thyme honey from the convent shop.
  • Drive down the short track to the wild coastline below for a quiet sunset.

How to get there

18 km east of Limassol via A1 highway, well signposted exit for Agios Georgios Alamanou.
