Alagadi Turtle Conservation Beach (Kyrenia)

Twin golden-sand bays divided by sculpted sandstone cliffs, serving as northern Cyprus's primary sea turtle nesting sanctuary.

Located 15 km east of Kyrenia, Alagadi Beach comprises two sweeping bays of soft golden sand backed by dunes and separated by a dramatic headland of wind-carved sandstone caves.

Each summer, both Green and Loggerhead sea turtles nest along these shores under the stewardship of marine conservation researchers.

Tips before you go

  • Explore the sculpted sandstone rock formations and natural tide pools on the central headland between the two bays.
  • Never place umbrellas in the upper sand zone where turtle nests are marked.
  • Bring sun protection and drinking water.

How to get there

15 km east of Kyrenia off the coastal road toward Esentepe.
