Paphos Medieval Castle

Byzantine-Ottoman stone coastal fort guarding Kato Paphos harbour, with rooftop vistas over fishing boats.

Standing sentinel at the tip of the Paphos harbour mole. Originally Byzantine, rebuilt by the Lusignans, and restored by the Ottomans in 1592.

Cross the stone arched bridge over the moat and ascend to the roof battlements for sweeping views of the marina and Mediterranean breakers.

Tips before you go

  • €2.50 entry ticket; a quick 30-minute self-guided walk.
  • The harbour promenade leading to the fort is completely pedestrianized.
  • Iconic backdrop for the annual Paphos Aphrodite Opera Festival in September.

How to get there

Southern end of Kato Paphos Harbour walkway. Bus 611 or 615 to harbour terminus.
