Foinikas Abandoned Village (Asprokremmos Reservoir)

Hauntingly scenic deserted stone village with medieval Templar roots on the shores of Asprokremmos Dam.

Once a medieval fiefdom of the Knights Templar, the stone village of Foinikas was gradually abandoned after the filling of the Asprokremmos Reservoir in 1982.

When water levels rise in spring, the lower stone ruins sit right at the turquoise water's edge, creating one of the most dramatic landscapes in the Paphos district.

Tips before you go

  • Reached via an unpaved dirt track; higher ground clearance is recommended.
  • Admire the stone structures from outside—do not enter unstable ruins.
  • Fantastic photography spot during sunset.

How to get there

Accessible via dirt tracks from Nata village or along the eastern shore of Asprokremmos Dam.
