Cyprus Month by Month: When to Swim, Hike, or Spend the Winter

Year-round guide to sea temperatures, seasonal hiking, winter flamingos, and golden autumn months.

Winter (December – February): Flamingos, Citrus & Mild Trails

Daytime coastal temperatures average 17–19°C. Great for coastal walks and seeing migrating pink flamingos at Larnaca Salt Lake.

Spring (March – May): Wildflowers & Emerald Hills

The island turns green and wildflowers bloom across the valleys. Swimming kicks off by mid-May as sea temperatures hit 21–22°C.

Summer (June – August): Peak Sun & Warm Waters

Sea temperatures reach 26–28°C. Best enjoyed with early morning swims and afternoon escapes up into the Troodos mountains.

Autumn (September – November): Golden Perfection

September and October bring the finest conditions: gentle 28°C air and bath-warm water with zero summer rush.
